Sérgio playing, in a duo with himself, his own composition written at the age of 17.
Before Sérgio and Odair embarked for the United States, Seu Jorge, in his eternal search for financial stability, he had moved with his family to São João de Meriti. After the brothers' international return, they all transferred to Campo Grande, another suburb, close to the beaches of Barra de Guaratiba and Sepetiba, where Seu Jorge realized he could prosper as a watchmaker, serving the large number of bathers whose watches were damaged by seawater.
It was during this period that Sérgio began his personal career as a composer and arranger, including using the old father's reel-to-reel tape recorder to record his own ideas—often recording with himself, and making the most of the resources that the device allowed.
