Seeing their sons’ extraordinary progress, it was clear that, to keep improving, they would need to find a new teacher up to the task—a truly complex undertaking in the interior of the state. Seu Jorge knew his sons were special, but still did not know how to keep showing this to the world.
That is how, unexpectedly, Rogério Cardoso—an amateur singer who used to frequent the family’s bar back in Mococa and who, by then, lived in Rio de Janeiro as a professional actor— saw them play and had the idea of introducing them to his friend Moacyr, a multi-artist and host of the Moacyr Franco Show on TV Excelsior. When he learned of the brothers’ existence, Moacyr did not hesitate to invite them to participate in the program in Rio de Janeiro.
Back in the interior of São Paulo, Seu Jorge carried with him the certainty that his sons’ future as professional musicians was not unattainable.
Still focused on providing stability for the family, Seu Jorge faced a stroke of misfortune: a problem in the automatic irrigation system of the lemon plantation—built by him—caused the water tank to rupture; it filled uncontrollably until it exploded. In a single day, his entire investment was lost, forcing the family, once again, to start from scratch. And so they returned to Ribeirão Preto.
